CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - Horry County Police reported a shooting that happened Friday night around 8. It started over an argument between two people in the Burger King drive-thru parking lot off Church street in Conway.

The drivers left at the same time and reportedly followed each other to D street and Moss road about five miles down from the Burger King. Police say the driver of one car fired a bullet through the other car and it struck the victim in the leg. Police have not released a name for the suspect or victim just yet.

Homeowners in the neighborhood said they did not hear a gun shot or see the cars, and one man said he thought it was a firework, later to see police cars right outside his doorstep.

Denise Edwards lives down the street and says now she is worried about the safety on her own streets. She said, “A lot of people in our neighborhood have small kids, so it’s a little scary to think they are outside playing and then we have a shooting in our neighborhood.”

She didn’t hear the gun shot either, and says she doesn’t understand how violence like this can happen over just an argument between two people. “I just think people don’t think any more about violence. They see it all the time on TV and they don’t really let it concern them or think about the value of a person’s life. My heart goes out to them, because it could have been us,” Edwards said.

Edwards says this is the first shooting she has heard in her neighborhood, and says she is now worried about being outside her home at night.

Police say the suspect's car is described as a silver/green color SUV and to please contact Horry County Police with any information.

Hundreds of people laced up their running shoes Sunday for the Myrtle Beach Mini Marathon. While some ran to achieve a goal, others ran to raise awareness, like the West family, who ran for their son, David West. “We dedicated this year’s run in his memory,” said his father, Peter West.
