ATLANTIC BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The American Red Cross, Horry County Fire Rescue, Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, Horry County Habitat for Humanity, Lowe's Home Improvement of North Myrtle, and the Town of Atlantic Beach will visit homes in the community during a Smoke Alarm Blitz to be held at Atlantic Beach Community Center, on November 7, from 8:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Teams of American Red Cross volunteers and local firefighters will go door-to-door to test working smoke alarms, install free smoke alarms where needed, meet with families to assist them in creating a home fire escape plan, and discuss the importance of having everyone in the household know what to do in the event of a fire.
