HARTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) - Eighteen-year-old George Chapman is a self-taught piano player who also loves to sing and act. In 11th Grade, he held the lead in the musical "How to Succeed in Business," and he's had numerous solos through his advanced choir class. This year, he'll perform a solo for the holiday concerts. He wants to be an actor and singer someday, and says it's not just a pipe dream.
"If it's my passion and I love to do it I will strive to do it, no matter what anybody tells me I'm gonna to sing," he said.
Today Chapman walks the halls of Hartsville High School preparing to graduate, but this time next year, he could be in New York, attending American Music and Dramatical Academy where he'll major in Music and minor in Journalism. He was crowned Mr. Hartsville High, 2015 and says it's clear what he'll miss most about this community.
"Basically my friends and family because I love people that are important to me," he said.
