Hamlet man arrested on burglary, grand larceny charges

MARLBORO COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A 30-year-old Hamlet man was arrested on burglary and grand larceny charges on Tuesday in Richmond County, North Carolina, according to a news release from the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office.

Matthew Adam Scott, of Boyd Lake Road, was determined by MCSO Investigators through evidence and witnesses to have been involved in a burglary on Gurney Road in Wallace, South Carolina. TV’s, tools and a truck was stolen from the residence when the victim was out of town.

According to the MCSO, Scott has a lengthy prior record and is awaiting extradition back to South Carolina once he faces multiple felony charges for other crimes in North Carolina, including burglary.

The investigators recovered the tools in Wallace and the truck in North Carolina.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, SLED, the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation assisted in the investigation and apprehension of Scott.
