Kelly, Owens head to runoff for Horry Co. District 3 Republican Primary

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Bob Kelly and Oliver “Bubba” Owens will face each other in a runoff Republican primary election later this month for the District 3 seat of the Horry County Council, according to unofficial election results.

Kelly received 396 votes, 40.24 percent of the vote, short of the 51 percent required to win outright. Kelly and Owens will face off in a runoff election on November 17.

The winner will face Democrat Jimmy Washington in the General Election on December 22.

    A BB gun was brought into Waccamaw Elementary by a student on the first day of school, a spokesperson for Horry County Schools confirmed. A 6-year-old boy in first grade showed up with the BB gun in his backpack, confirmed HCS spokeswoman Teal Britton.

We’ve all left the building.” With that, Surfside Beach resident Betty Lowery stormed out of the Surfside Beach town council meeting Tuesday night after having submitted her resignation from the town’s Planning Commission. Her resignation followed that of Sandra Elliott who earlier had also resigned from the same commission.
