MARION COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Four men were arrested between October 26 – 28 during a sex offender compliance check operation called Operation Swamp Fox. The United States Marshals Service partnered with the Marion County Sheriff's Office for the three-day compliance operation.
Joshua Lybrand, James Williams and Desmond Johnson are charged with failure to register first offense, according to a news release from Major Brian Wallace, Marion County Combined Drug Unit Director.
Luther Davis is charged with giving false information while registering first offense, the release states.
"The US Marshals are honored to partner with local and state law enforcement agencies in South Carolina to ensure the safety of its citizens by verifying sex offender's whereabouts. We look forward to partnering again with different counties to continue these sex offender compliance operations," said Kelvin Washington, U.S. Marshal for South Carolina.
During the operation, 57 registered sex offenders in Marion County were verified and found compliant.
"Compliance checks are a standard procedure but we decided to partnership with the U.S. Marshal Service to increase our efforts and conduct a county-wide check," said Major Brian Wallace with the Marion County Sheriff's Office.
In addition to the four arrests, two arrests were made for a bench warrant and a non-child support payment.
"We want to know exactly where these registered sex offenders are living and that they are compliant with state law," Major Brian Wallace stated.
