Ruiz Foods goes pink, raises $610 for McLeod Hospital Breast Cancer Awareness

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – Ruiz Foods Inc. hosted its first Pink Out Day for Breast Cancer Awareness on Wednesday and team members raised $610 for the McLeod Hospital Cancer Center.

“Everyone is affected by breast cancer. Whether it is our mothers, sisters, wives or daughters, there is a woman somewhere fighting this disease,” said Darryl Davids, Senior Human Resources Manager, Ruiz Foods, Inc.

According to a news release from Ruiz Foods Inc., all 61 team members participated by wearing pink so Ruiz Foods Inc. donated $10 for each participant to McLeod Hospital Breast Cancer Awareness.

“It is our hope that with our support we will come one step closer to finding a cure,” Davids expressed.

The team celebrated with pink strawberry ice cream and cupcakes.

Ruiz Foods Inc. is a privately owned corporation dedicated to selling premium quality prepared frozen foods that employs over 2,700 team members in four facilities in the U.S.

    A new court filing from defendants in a case involving the late former Horry County Police detective Allen Large and a defendant identified as “Jane Doe 3” asks the judge for a summary judgement. Those defendants, including former Horry County Police Chief Saundra Rhodes and the supervisors up the chain of command from Large, believe the case shouldn't go before a jury because Jane Doe Three has no case against them.

    Two adults were taken to a hospital with minor injuries after a house fire on Main Street in Conway Tuesday. According to tweet from the Horry County Fire Department, firefighters from their department and the City of Conway Fire Department responded to the fire and brought it under control.
