Woman killed in 3-vehicle accident near Red Springs Friday

ROBESON COUNTY, NC (WMBF) – One woman was killed in an accident involving three vehicles near Red Springs, North Carolina Friday evening, a North Carolina Highway Patrol official confirmed.

Yeniffer Elizabeth Sanchez-Pineda, 19, died in a head-on collision on SC-211 at about 7:53 p.m. Friday, according to Sgt. Danial Hilburn with the NC Highway Patrol.

According to Sgt. Hilburn, a Ford Expedition being driven east on SC-211 by 39-year-old Nekia Sturdivant Baldwin crossed the center line and struck the vehicle driven by Sanchez-Pineda, and occupied by another passenger, head-on. The Expedition continued straight and struck a third vehicle head on. That vehicle was driven by Daniel Cruz Martinez and occupied by four other passengers.

All three vehicles then came to a stop on the roadway.

Martinez was airlifted to McLeod in Florence, and all others were taken the Southeastern Regional in Lumberton.

Baldwin was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and driving left of center.
