FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - A 30-year-old man is back in police custody after escaping from police custody after he drove into a utility pole along Highway 52 Tuesday, according to Major Carlos Raines.
Jamie Cleto reportedly crashed into a utility police on Highway 52; officers caught up with him, arrested him, handcuffed him, and charged him with leaving the scene and property damage. While the officer was speaking to a witness, Cleto got out of the cop car and ran. Police tried to track him and could not immediately find him.
Cleto was found at around 6 p.m. Tuesday evening on Highway 52 near the Farmers Market, and was no longer wearing handcuffs. He is now being held a the Florence County Detention Center.
