Five cars and boat catch fire at Marion auto store Monday

MARION, SC (WMBF) - Several automobiles and a boat were reported caught on fire Monday afternoon according to Marion Fire Officials.

Marion Rural Fire Chief Billy Wallace said 5 or 6 automobiles caught fire at Case Used Auto Parts. Hwy 301 was blocked for about 30 minutes. 

Marion Rural Fire Department Engineer David Black said a boat also caught fire; In that area Hwy 76 and Hwy 301 merge into one highway but its better known as Hwy 76. Black said Hwy 76 is now re-open.

Windy Hill Fire Department and Marion City Fire Department assisted with the fires.

According to Black, a worker was draining oil and gas from the vehicles and a tool sparked causing the fire.
