FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Governor Nikki Haley will be in Kingstree on Monday, October 26, for the Team South Carolina event for Florence and Williamsburg counties that will be held at the Williamsburg Recreation Center from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., according to a news release from the South Carolina Governor’s Office.

The Team South Carolina events are where flood victims can go to learn about resources available to families and businesses while South Carolina recovers from the flooding.

On Monday, Govenor Nikki Haley helped pack boxes with toilet tissue and cleaning supplies that will go to flood victims.

She encouraged those in attendance to help people in thier area recover from the storm.

Haley added that help is coming fast to those who have applied for FEMA assistance.

“The need is out there. I will tell you that we have done very well with fast debris removal and getting the roads back open, but turn into a neighborhood and you will see devastation real quick. What I will tell you is if you are a person who has been blessed pay it forward and go help these people rebuild,” Haley said.

These events also bring state and federal officials and non-profit organizations together to help those who have been impacted by the statewide flooding.

“If you are someone who has had damage ask for help, that what we are here for. We heard there was a big need in this area. Also, for mosquito spray…we’re getting other counties to come bring mosquito trucks out here so that we can spray the areas. This is about all of South Carolina coming together, it doesn’t matter what county you are in. It doesn’t matter what neighborhood you are in,” Haley said.

The news release states that Florence and Williamsburg County residents can do the following during the Team South Carolina event:

  • Register for financial assistance from FEMA
  • Apply for disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration
  • Learn more about repairing and flood proofing their home from FEMA
  • Get information about assistance for farmers with crop losses or damage from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency
