Flood waters push back deadline to make rail lines operational in Horry & Marion Co.

Horry County, SC -

Officials with RJ Corman say it could be a little longer before rail lines are operational in Horry and Marion counties.

Flood waters still cover parts of tracks in the area, with the most extensive damage seen in the city of Conway.

After assessing the tracks, Bill Henderson with RJ Corman says it looks like February 1, 2016, will be the soonest they could get the rail lines back to operational standards.

The original deadline had been the end of 2015.

RJ Corman bought 80 miles of track running through Horry and Marion counties in South Carolina and Columbus County in North Carolina back in August 2015. To extend the Carolina Southern Railroad to the beach, RJ Corman is leasing another 14 miles of track from Horry County that run from Conway to Myrtle Beach.
