HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Marley McKenna Spindler, the 16-year-old teen who went missing for nearly a week in August before being found safe in Mt. Pleasant, attended a hearing on October 2 for filing a false police report, according to Family Court Solicitor Caroline Fox of the Horry County Solicitor’s Office.

Spindler is charged with filing a false police report, which in itself is a felony, according to Fox.

Judge A.E. Morehead, who presided over the hearing, took into consideration that Spindler spent five days in jail before being put on electronic monitoring and sentenced her to a probationary sentence with the Department of Juvenile Justice, according to Fox.

Fox states Judge Morehead took into careful consideration of the juvenile’s circumstances as well as the circumstances of the case before making his decision.

Spindler is currently on probation under numerous conditions, according to Fox. Since Spindler is a juvenile, Fox could not comment on those conditions.

On August 27, Mount Pleasant Police confirmed that a “filing false police report” charge was filed in connection to the case of Marley McKenna Spindler.

A new court filing from defendants in a case involving the late former Horry County Police detective Allen Large and a defendant identified as “Jane Doe 3” asks the judge for a summary judgement. Those defendants, including former Horry County Police Chief Saundra Rhodes and the supervisors up the chain of command from Large, believe the case shouldn't go before a jury because Jane Doe Three has no case against them.
