GEORGETOWN, SC (WMBF) -  Georgetown County Sheriff Deputies responded to the Georgetown Memorial hospital Sunday night October 11 for reports of a gunshot wound victim; the victim was recently found dead in a wooded area, according to Georgetown County Sheriff's Office.

Through investigation, deputies determined the victim's ex-boyfriend, Alphonso Alston III went to the female victim's house on Siau Lane in the Sampit Community of Georgetown County and realized a male acquaintance of the victim, Herbert Antonio Deas was at the house.

Deas fired one shot at Alston after an altercation with intentions to cause harm to Alston, but struck the victim in the back instead.

Family members reported Alston missing on October 12, 2015. A body, later identified as Alphonso Alston was located November 4 in a wooded area off of Mauresina Rd, Georgetown, SC around 4 p.m.

Herbert Antonio Deas was wanted for attempted murder and located Friday, November 6, in Longs, according to Lieutenant Neil Johnson of the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office.

Georgetown County Deputy Coroner Chase Ridgeway said Alphonso Alston III's body was identified during an autopsy at MUSC Friday, November 6.

A murder warrant has been served on Deas at the Georgetown County Detention Center where he is awaiting a bond hearing, according to GCSO.
