HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Horry County has moved to OPCON 2 due to continuing flooding issues. OPCON 2 means that the flooding continues to pose a serious threat to Horry County, but the situation is stabilizing.
The Horry County Emergency Operations Center remains activated 24 hours a day.  Horry County Police and the South Carolina National Guard continue to staff the 14 security checkpoints along the Waccamaw River around the clock.  In addition, The SC Department of Natural Resources, the Horry County Police and the United States Coast Guard will continue to provide boat patrols along the Waccamaw River and Intracoastal Waterway.
More than 1,800 Horry County residents have applied for the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s assistance.
