DHEC offers free tetanus shots Monday and Tuesday

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Free tetanus vaccinations are being offered at locations across the state Monday and Tuesday, as the Department of Health and Environmental Control recommends them to storm-affected residents who have not received one in over 10 years, or residents who were injured and had a tetanus shot more than five years ago.

The nearest local clinics to receive a shot on Monday and Tuesday are listed below:

Monday, Oct. 12, 2015

Bloomingdale Community Center

9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015

Williamsburg County Department of Social Services
831 N. Eastland Avenue
Kingstree, S.C.
9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“DHEC reminds all storm-affected residents that a tetanus vaccination is recommended if it’s been10 years or more since your last tetanus vaccination or you have experienced an injury and your shot is more than five years old,” DHEC stated in a news release.

“DHEC will also offer no-cost tetanus vaccinations at health departments statewide beginning Monday, Oct. 12. To make an appointment for a tetanus vaccination at a health department near you, call 1-800-868-0404.

“DHEC will continue to announce vaccination clinics at www.scdhec.gov as times and locations become available.”
