Coast RTA reopens Georgetown Transfer Station and provides modified service

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – In an effort to provide service to passengers along routes 16 and 16X, Coast RTA reopened its Georgetown Transfer Center on Lynch Street, adjacent to the Piggly Wiggly parking lot on Tuesday.

Due to road conditions, modified service to passengers along Highway 701 will be provided.

Coast RTA asks all passengers to go to Highway 701, serviced by Routes 16 and 16X, for both pick up and drop off on the regular route schedule.

According to the Coast RTA press release, all Georgetown routes are scheduled to run with the exception listed below.

  • Route 16/16X will open the Georgetown Transfer Center for the regularly scheduled 10 a.m. trip, with the exception mentioned above along Highway 701. There will be no service in Andrews or other parts of Georgetown County due to road closures in those areas.

Coast RTA officials are working closely with law enforcement officials, the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) and continuously monitoring road conditions to insure safety for both its passengers and employees.

For more information or specific route questions call Coast RTA Customer Service at 843-488-0865 during normal business hours.
