COLUMBIA, SC (WMBF) – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety says the South Carolina Highway Patrol has responded to 439 collisions, 170 calls for assisting motorists, 118 trees in the roadway and 104 reports of flooding from 6 p.m. Friday night to 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon, according to the SCDPS Facebook page.
Troopers want to remind motorists to limit travelling as much as possible as night falls.
As the grounds become more saturated, the potential increases for more trees to fall in the roadways and for standing water.
The SCDPS reports three weather-related traffic fatalities in South Carolina since October 2. According to a news release from SCDPS, one female died in Aiken, one male died in Anderson and one female in Greenville.
