MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Three boaters aboard a damaged 45-foot boat were rescued by a Coast Guard air rescue crew about 11 miles east of Myrtle Beach Friday morning.
The Charleston command center received a distress call from the boaters aboard the vessel 'Tommy Girl' via marine radio at about 9:45 a.m., according to a news release from the Coast Guard. The boaters reported the bow of their boat was damaged and was taking on water. One of the boaters also suffered a leg injury and was experiencing breathing difficulties.
Crews from the air facility in Charleston, the Coast Guard Station in Georgetown and Horry County Fire Rescue responded, the release states.
The three boaters were taken to Myrtle Beach International Airport and transferred via Emergency Medical Services for further evaluation.
