What to know about OPCON Levels

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - As part of the Horry County Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan, the county has specific hazard action plans when it comes to dealing with hurricanes and tropical systems.

They place special emphasis on using operational conditions and evacuations in order to increase the safety for citizens and tourists alike.

It’s not a light decision to move up in OPCON Levels; the county takes this very seriously because it makes a huge impact on you and the emergency services available to you.

This is a good opportunity to refresh your memory on what flood zone you’re in and to figure out your evacuation route.

    Two people were shot Sunday night in Darlington, according to Darlington County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Robert  Kilgo. Deputies were called to a home on Larry’s Drive in Darlington around 6:00 Sunday night. Upon arrival, they found two people with gunshot wounds.
