MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Myrtle Beach Police and firefighters responded to Dunbar Street Thursday morning just after 1 a.m., in reference to a suspicious fire burning near mailboxes.
Upon arriving, officers observed a couch and mailboxes burning on the outskirts of the property. The Myrtle Beach Fire Department arrived to the scene shortly after and put the fire out.
The witness told police the couch was placed next to the mailboxes early in the afternoon for removal by Waste Management.
While walking up Graham Ave., the witness noticed the couch become engulfed in flames, she then rushed to her apartment to call 911.
Investigation is ongoing at this time.
