Weekend events postponed, cancelled due to weather

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Several area weekend events are being postponed due to the forecasted weather.

According to the City of Myrtle Beach’s Facebook page, the following events have been postponed:

  • 8th Annual Oktoberfest at The Market Common
  • The OMAR Shriners BBQ Smoke on the Beach
  • Carolina Roots presents the Carolina Sessions Reggae Music Festival

The new dates for the events have not been determined yet, but will be announced soon, the Facebook page states.

The Walk for Live / Race for Life being held by the Carolinas Hospital System has been cancelled due to bad weather. "People who pre-registered, can pick their shirt up on Monday, October 5th from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Floyd Conference Center, 1592 Freedom Boulevard, located on the main campus of Carolinas Hospital System," representatives stated in a news release. CHS will still be donating money raised to breast cancer research. 

The Finish Strong Training Breast Cancer Awareness Walk/Run will be held in the Ocean Bay Elementary School gymnasium at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, according to a news release from Finish Strong Training.

The Market on Darlington Square event has been cancelled for Saturday, according to a news release from the Darlington Planner.

Horry County Fire Rescue has postponed several open houses that were planned for this weekend, according to Battalion Chief Brian VanAernem.

The Waccamaw Market Cooperative has cancelled the North Myrtle Beach Farmers Market for Friday. The Market Common Farmers Market and the and the Georgetown Farmers Market for Saturday are also cancelled, according to a news release from the City of NMB.

The concert at the Horseshoe on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach has been cancelled for Friday, according to the release.

The Surfside Beach Family Festival scheduled for Saturday has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 17, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to a release from Surfside Beach.

The First Annual Yoga Day, presented by Coastal Carolina National Bank and Tidelands Heath, hosted at TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark has been moved to Thursday, October 8. 

The Coker College baseball showcase scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 4 has been cancelled. All campers that were planning to attend are encouraged to come to the showcase on Saturday, Oct. 24 at Coker's Tom J. New Field. To register online: 2015 Coker Fall Baseball Showcase - Oct. 24

The Hartsville Tournament of Bands scheduled for Saturday has been canceled due to travel concerns due to inclement weather, according to Audrey Childers, DCSD Public Information Officer.

The American Cancer Society Bra’s Across the Water and The Flock Walk events have been cancelled for Saturday.
