NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – North Myrtle Beach Police Officers responded to a call involving child neglect Saturday on Riptide Circle after the parents of the child appeared drunk.
One witness said she was walking her dog and saw a two year old girl standing in the driveway at 108 Riptide Dr. then she saw the parents Sarah and Robert Hendrix sitting on a golf cart on the other side of the truck in the driveway drinking alcohol.
The witness told the parents that their daughter was standing on the other side of the truck; Mrs. Hendrix seemed surprised then thanked the woman. The witness continued her walk before going back inside, she then decided to go back to 108 Riptide Cir and give Mrs. Hendrix her phone number. While at the house she saw the Mr. Hendrix was passed out on the golf cart and couldn't find the mother of the child. The witness decided to wait at the house until the mom returned.
Another neighbor came over and said the mom was at her house very intoxicated, and said she had got in a fight with Mr. Hendrix.
Officers asked Mrs. Hendrix what happened and she said she was with her kids all night. Another officer woke up Mr. Hendrix while he was on the golf cart passed out.
Robert Clayton Hendrix and Sarah Elizabeth Hendrix were both charged for unlawful neglect of child or helpless person by legal custodian.
