WMBF FIRST ALERT FORECAST: Unusually high tides and heavy rain to close the week

Periods of heavy rain...

Low pressure will meander around the Carolinas through the weekend bringing several rounds of rain through Saturday with some periods of heavy rain at times.

Starting off with more showers and even some thunderstorms around the area this morning. This is going to be the theme for today as we continue on this Friday. Off and on showers and some showers could be heavy at time. We can't rule out the chance for thunder. By this afternoon the rain won't be as widespread but the thick cloud cover will linger leaving the chance for a shower in the forecast.

Saturday keeps the cloud cover and chance for rain throughout the day. We won't see has widespread of a rain event but most will see the rain by Saturday night. Skies will slowly and gradually begin to clear overnight into Sunday where we are left with only a slight chance for showers. In addition to the rain, gusty winds will keep the surf rough with a higher threat of rip currents and perhaps even some minor beach erosion possible.

The beginning of next week looks dry but we bring rain back into the forecast by midweek.
