Laurinburg man arrested for shooting at moving vehicle

LAURINBURG, NC (WMBF) – Police arrested a Laurinburg man after he was wanted for discharging a firearm into a moving vehicle, discharging firearms into occupied property, discharging a firearm within city limits, and felony conspiracy.

Multiple shots were fired on July 7 toward a vehicle traveling on Spruce, Laurinburg, NC striking the vehicle and a nearby residence on E. Vance Street, police said.

Police also said at that time, suspects were identified with one taken into custody, Jaylen Everett during the early morning of July 8 in Laurinburg.

Devonta Jameel Monroe was at large and considered armed and dangerous. Monroe made threats to shoot officers and was the suspect in shooting a police vehicle.

According to Laurinburg Police, Monroe has now been arrested.
