MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) The official start to Autumn begins on Wednesday September 23rd, 2015. By the time most of us wake up Wednesday morning not only will it be a new day but a new season! Fall officially begins at 4:21AM.
Each equinox is defined by the amount of daylight being equal to the amount of night and this year's Fall equinox so happens to 'fall' on the 23rd of September. Getting into the nitty-gritty of it, the Autumnal equinox is when the sun crosses over the equator bringing the summer sun to the southern hemisphere and leaving us with less direct sunlight here in the northern hemisphere.
While we won't see huge changes in our weather we will begin to notice the sun rising and setting in slightly different positions each day as we prepare for shorter days and longer nights.
As we continue with the week, go ahead and break out the sweaters and treat yourself to a Pumpkin Spice Latte or some Halloween candy. Tis' the season! Also, go ahead and download our FREE First Alert Weather App so you know when to be able to wear those sweaters. It's available in the Apple and Android app stores.
