Myrtle Beach Police investigating after man found bloodied and beaten

Myrtle Beach, SC - Myrtle Beach Police are investigating a case of aggravated assault after a man was found bloodied and beaten and laying in the road near the area of 9th Avenue North and Oak Street.

The incident was reported Sunday just after 8 a.m.

A report posted on the Myrtle Beach Police website said the victim, 24-year-old Brian Malone, was covered in blood and had obvious trauma to his face, including what appeared to be a broken jaw.

Investigators described Malone's injuries saying, "the jaw bone appeared to be pushed back and separated from the right portion by approximately an inch."

The victim reportedly didn't know who attacked him, and he was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

Malone's wallet was found in a parking lot between 816 and 810 Broadway Street near a pool of blood, according to the police reports, and nothing appeared to have been taken from the wallet, though Malone's iPhone was missing.

"According to doctors, the victim suffered possible broken ribs, cheek bone and orbital fracture, and had an open mandibular fracture," Police reports said. "While at the hospital, the victim state the last thing he remembered was being in the club...he stated he couldn't remember anything else."

Investigators talked to some of Malone's friends who reported getting text messages from the victim as late as 6:40 Sunday morning.
