DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – The Darlington County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information involving an overnight burglary and theft that left a broken window and ATM machine taken from a store.

The DCSO says, the incident happened at the Markette Convenience store on Lamar Hwy near I-20. The front window was broken and the ATM machine was snatched out of the store.

“They found the front window broken and the ATM missing from the store,” Darlington County Sheriff Wayne Byrd said.

On Monday, the store’s window was busted out and covered with plywood.

“They used a chain or rope and tied it around the A.T.M,” Byrd said.

While this incident happened overnight on Sunday, this isn’t the first time thieves have targeted the ATM inside of the store.

WMBF News told you about the series of burglaries that were a problem for investigators last November.

It was then, WMBF talked to a store about an attempt to take the ATM machine back then.

Throughout the day on Monday, investigators with the Sheriff’s office were working to determine exactly who the two men are behind this crime.

Deputies said it was the tip of a passerby that helped alert them to the damage in the front of the building.

The Sheriff’s Office also said they are searching for a Black Cadillac Escalade with what appears at this time to be 2 white males.
