MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Myrtle Beach Police Officers responded to the area of Cannon Road and Hwy 501 early Saturday morning in reference to a a man who punched a woman in the face and attempted to drag her out of the window.
According to officers, the suspect (ex-boyfriend), approached the woman at the Suburban lodge on Frontage Road while she was hanging out with her friend and unknown males.
The victim said after the offender became hostile and aggressive towards her, she and her friend fled the location in their car with the offender pursuit. She said the offender ran them off the road numerous times on 501 before cornering their vehicle on Cannon Road. The next thing she knew, the offender ripped the passenger side window apart, punched her in the face, and attempted to drag her out of the window.
The victim also said the offender opened the passenger door and drug her out of the car while contentiously punching her in the back of her head. The offender then drug her to his vehicle where he tried throwing her in the passenger seat and the back seat with no success. She said the suspect then grabbed her by her neck and told her he was going to kill her; the offender then held on to her neck as he dragged her to the driver's side door and held her down while placing the vehicle in drive and attempting to drive off with the victim hanging out of the car.
Police reports say, the victim and the offender continued to struggle for a few more seconds before police arrived.
The offender, 20-year-old Broderick Carpenter, was arrested and transported to the Myrtle Beach jail and charged with criminal domestic violence 1st degree, kidnapping and damage to property, according to police.
The victim was transported to the hospital for further treatment.
