CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – The Conway Police Department is taking unwanted prescription drugs soon at Walgreens. This will give the public opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of dangerous prescription drugs.
The prescription take back will be held September 26th from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the Walgreens located at 1601 Church Street in Conway. Police said, the service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
Rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs. Students show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet.
According to an article from healthychildren.org ,it states that parents are the strongest influences that children have. There is no guarantee that your child won't use drugs, but drug use is much less likely to happen if you:
- Provide guidance and clear rules about not using drugs.
- Spend time with your child.
- Don’t use tobacco or other drugs yourself.
