MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) An area of low pressure sitting off the South Carolina coast will bring a stiff northeast breeze to us today on the beaches, as well as, the threat for a few showers this afternoon. As the afternoon progresses and we get into the heating of the day - some clouds and some rain will work its way across the Grand Strand. The main time frame for this rain will be from noon until about 4 PM. By this evening, we begin to clear out and see nice conditions work their way into the area for Saturday night into Sunday morning. This area of low pressure was actually the same system that brought heavy rains to Florida over the past few days.
The National Hurricane Center has actually given this a ten percent chance of formation over the next few days but we're not thinking it will become a named storm.
As we continue through the weekend, we will continue to see this system move off to the north and east. As it moves away it will bring the threat of showers with it. So, the rain threat lasts only for our Saturday and by Sunday, we see a completely different story with lots of sunshine out there.
