MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The Myrtle Beach Police Department celebrated K-9 Kelly’s second birthday on Thursday at the memorial fountain at the station.

"I'll always be very gracious for the older officers who show us, but we are the newest ones right now and she's going to be the next up and coming star," K-9 handler Officer Michael Householder expressed.

Kelly joined the police force in April and has been involved in several search warrants to help track down offenders.

She has aided in narcotics busts and has saved lived by finding firearms.

She is the third dog in the MBPD’s K-9 unit. K-9 Alli and Roscoe are Kelly’s partners.

The Woman’s Club in Myrtle Beach donates the K-9 to the department, which includes the basic K-9 handler training.
