HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Two men were shot at a home near Surfside Beach early Thursday morning after a physical altercation that began when the shooter started hitting on another man's 17-year-old daughter, according to the Horry County Police report.
Remington Bunting, age 31, of North Myrtle Beach, is charged with two counts of attempted murder. Bunting was denied bond Friday afternoon at his hearing at the Horry County Detention Center.
At about 2 a.m. Thursday, HCPD officers and detectives responded to a shooting call on Turkey Ridge Road, according to an HCPD news release. The investigation revealed that a physical altercation between two men resulted in Bunting pulling out a pistol, and shooting two men. Bunting was subdued and held down until police arrived.
The two injured men are expected to recover from their injuries, police stated, although one of them required surgery.
The man holding Bunting down told police that the altercation started when he began hitting on his 17-year-old daughter. That's when the victim confronted Bunting, an argument ensued, and they went outside. Bunting pushed the man, he then punched Bunting twice and held him down. Bunting then pulled out a gun and began firing shots, striking one man in the shoulder and shin, the report states.
