CONWAY, SC (WMBF) –The Horry County Sheriff’s Office will host the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Situational Awareness symposium for Houses of Worship on September 24, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., at Langston Baptist Church located at 763 Highway 905 in Conway.

According to a community relations advisory notice from the office of David A. Thomas, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in South Carolina, the FBI began hosting the symposiums throughout South Carolina, particularly in houses of worship, after the June 17 shooting at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston.

Pinpointing who is an active shooter, pre-incidental behavioral indicators, dealing with national news and supporting victims are a few of the topics the FBI will cover in the symposium.

Sheriff Phillip Thompson invites all pastors and laypersons of different churches and faiths in Horry County and surrounding areas to be a part of the presentation.
