GEORGETOWN, SC (WMBF) - The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office would like to notify the public that a joint training session in response to active shooter scenarios is planned for Georgetown County. Training for the worst will help prepare for any tragedy that would occur and help those skilled to stop a problem as quickly as possible
September 16 and 17, the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office and the SC Law Enforcement Division (SLED), will conduct a two 2 day Active Shooter training class for officers and instructors from several jurisdictions at the Beck Administration Building located at 2018 Church Street, and the Georgetown County Judicial Center located at 401 Cleland Street.
The public should be aware that there will be large numbers of law enforcement officers in and around these locations during the training dates.
Participating in the exercise will be the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office, SLED, the Georgetown Police Department, and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. Each class will consist of classroom instruction followed by practicing scenarios with role players in realistic situations, according to the Sheriff's office.
"In the event such a tragedy should occur, you train for the worst with the hope all of the agencies responding will have the skills and preparation to diffuse the situation as quickly as possible," Sheriff Lane Cribb of the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office commented.
