Man holding metal pipe demands money at MB hotel, reports say

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Myrtle Beach Police Officers responded to a robbery call around 10 p.m. Monday night after a suspect demanded and stole money while holding a metal pipe.

Reports say the suspect walked aggressively toward the counter where the victim was counting money at the register.

Reports also say, the suspect then placed his left hand on the counter and jumped over, the suspect was carrying a black metal pipe in his right hand which the victim described as a jack for a car.

The suspect began pushing the victim into the office and took $230 dollars out of the register before chasing the suspect from the property.

The suspect was last seen running North through the parking lot toward the Fairfield Inn and described as a male of an unknown race wearing a green jacket with a hood, faded blue jeans and a black and white scarf over his face. The suspect is said to be between 5’10” and 5’11 tall with a slim build, according to police reports.

    Traffic congestion is being reported on several spots along Highway 17 and Highway 17 Bypass from Surfside Beach to Georgetown as the total solar eclipse draws nearer. An alert from the South Carolina Department of Transportation states that US 17 southbound between the Garden City Connector and Indigo Club Drive is down to an average speed of just 7 miles per hour, for a length of about 9 miles.
