26-year-old man arrested in connection to Darlington County shooting

DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A 26-year-old man was arrested Monday night in connection to Saturday night’s shooting of Andre McDaniel that occurred in the Centerville area of Darlington County, according to a news release from Sheriff J. Wayne Byrd, Darlington County Sheriff’s Office.

David Barrientos was arrested by Jasper County Sheriff's deputies on an attempted murder warrant from the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office, the release states.

Sheriff Byrd says deputies with the DCSO obtained the warrant after their investigations led them to Barrientos.

The JCSO was notified when investigators learned that Barrientos had left Darlington County for the Ridgeland, South Carolina area, where he is alleged of having family, the release states.

Deputies with the DCSO are making preparations to return Barrientos to Darlington County.

Sheriff Byrd says additional charges are forth coming.

The shooting victim, McDaniel, remains at MUSC, the release states.
