Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders to visit South Carolina

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – United States Senator Bernie Sanders, a Democratic Party presidential candidate, will be visiting South Carolina on Saturday, September 12, 2015, according to a news release from the South Carolina Press Association.

Dr. Cornel West, prominent academic, author and activist, will join Sen. Sanders when he stops in Columbia, Florence and Rock Hill.

Their first South Carolina event on Saturday will be a meeting held at Benedict College at 11 a.m. in Columbia.

Next they will travel to Florence for a Florence Town Hall Meeting being held at the Florence Civic Center, which is located at 3300 W. Radio Drive. The event will start at 4 p.m. and doors will open at 3 p.m.

After, they will make the trip to Winthrop University in Rock Hill for a rally that will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The release states all the events are free and open to the public; admission will be on a first come, first served basis.

The Independent Senator from Vermont is currently serving his second term in the U.S. Senate after winning re-election in 2012, according to the Bernie Sanders Facebook page.

    Florence County Sheriff deputies were responding to an assault call Friday when they discovered a victim that had been stabbed. The incident occurred on Palomar Parkway in Florence. Investigators discovered a verbal dispute had resulted in the victim being assaulted and stabbed.
