HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A 25-year-old North Carolina man has been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal hit and run accident involving a moped in Surfside Beach on June 11.
Billie Ann Waylon, 63, was killed in the crash, according to Michelle McSpadden, deputy coroner. Waylon was from the Myrtle Beach area. The incident happened at 10:40 P.M. Thursday, June 11.
Dylan Pete Walker-Shook, 25, of Claremont, NC, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a collision involving death, according to a news release from Surfside Beach Police. He is being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center pending a bond hearing.

"We are pleased to finally bring closure of this case for the family of the victim involved," SBPD Chief Rodney Keziah said. "This case resulted in many hours of investigation and out of state travel to successfully arrest the offender. I commend all officers and agencies involved in this investigation for their dedication and professionalism."
According to Keziah, the case was investigating by the following agencies: Surfside Beach Police Dept, 15th Judicial Circuit Solicitors Office, South Carolina Highway Patrol M.A.I.T., South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division (SLED), Florida Highway Patrol, Florida State Attorney's Office, North Carolina Highway Patrol, Catawba County Sheriff's Office, NC, Myrtle Beach Police Department and the Horry County Coroner's Office.
