MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Myrtle Beach police say they responded to a call about possible drug and prostitution activity Monday, and busted a man carrying marijuana and MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy or Molly.
The police report from MBPD says officers got a call about possible prostitution and drug activity at the Super 8 Hotel off Kings Highway around 9 p.m. Monday. The caller said two men and a woman were on the property, and vehicles were repeatedly stopping briefly then leaving.
The responding officer found 30-year-old Joey Cunningham sitting on a wall on the hotel property. When the officer approached Cunningham he tried to walk across the street. The officer stopped him and Cunningham gave the officer permission to search him, then took off running when the officer pulled marijuana from Cunningham's front pocket.
The officer started chasing Cunningham, and saw a plastic bag in his right hand. He caught up to Cunningham, who was trying to jump a fence, then went back to the plastic bag. Inside it the officer found 32 doses of MDMA.
Cunningham was arrested for possession with intent to distribute, simple possession of marijuana, resisting arrest and loitering.
