"It was great. It was my first time and I had a blast," said Amanda Sexton, who camped in the in-field of the Darlington Raceway.
Throughout Monday morning and into the evening, fans packed up their RVs, removed stakes from the ground, and folded up their tents.
"Oh we had a great time," said Aaron Wade, who also camped in the in-field.
The Race, its tradition, and the Lady in Black proved to drive fan experience this past weekend.
This year's race was the first for Molly Meyers. She came from North Carolina to experience NASCAR in the in-field of Darlington.
“It was awesome. It was a different experience. The culture here is very interesting," Meres said.
She said she will definitely be back next year.
"I look at it like it's an independent sport. I know there are teams, but drivers work to win for themselves," Meyers said.
Meyers said she enjoyed the neighborly experience of being around other NASCAR fans.
WMBF News will be the official Southern 500 Channel for next year’s race as well.
