Loris man killed in Labor Day car crash

LORIS, SC (WMBF) - One person was killed following a two vehicle crash on SC 9 Bypass Monday evening.

The Horry County Coroner's Office identified Dennis Michael Dew, 57, of Loris, the man killed in the crash.

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol the accident happened at the intersection of Highway 747 and SC 9 Bypass just outside of Loris around 5:17 p.m. 

Highway troopers said Dew was driving a 2011 Ford pickup, traveling west from Highway 747 and the driver of a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling north on SC 9 Bypass. Dew  pulled out onto SC 9 Bypass and was struck on the left side. 

Both drivers were transported to Grand Strand Medical Center. The driver of the Tahoe was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Dew passed away at the hospital

South Carolina Highway Patrol said the accident remains under investigation.
