GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A body was found floating in the Sampit River off Front Street downtown Georgetown Monday morning, according to the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office.

Georgetown Coroner Kenny Johnson said the body was pulled from the harbor in the 500 block of Front Street around 8 a.m.

Johnson said 58-year-old Steven D. Dansby from Ft. Myers Florida died from drowning.

The coroner also says Georgetown Police received surveillance video from along Harbor Walk and observed the deceased disappearing behind the area in the vicinity of the Times newspaper office at 2:18 a.m. Sunday, September 6.

No foul play is suspected, however the case is still being investigated, according to the coroner.
