Boogie and BBQ festival coming labor day weekend

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Horry-Georgetown Technical College Grand Strand campus will host the 10th Annual Beach, Boogie & BBQ Festival. The boogie will have several events packed into two days.

This festival is free to attend. More than 30 barbecue teams are signed up to compete, and The Myrtle Beach Car Club show will take place on Crabtree Lane with more than 100 specialty cars.

Festivities will begin September 4 and 5, at 6 p.m. Friday, and Saturday at noon. A corn-hole competition will be held from 12-4 p.m.

The Kansas City Barbecue Society will present the competition awards at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Friday, September 4:

6-7:30 p.m. -The Harvest

8-9:30 p.m. – The Miracle Max and the Pet Monsters

Saturday, September 5:

12-1:15 p.m. – Pocket Fuzz

1:45-3 p.m. – Carolina Midnight

5-6 p.m. – KCBS Awards Ceremony Announcments

6:30 –7:45 p.m. – Paul Grimshaw Band

8:15–9:30 p.m. – Ntranze

    The fifth and final suspect wanted in connection with the Christmas Eve murder of a Lake City man was taken into custody in Columbus, Ohio on January 12. Justin Marquise Pringle, 21, was charged with four other men in the murder of 74-year-old Johnny Cameron on December 24, 2017 at the victim’s home on Old Georgetown Road in Lake City, according to a news release from the Florence County Sheriff's Office.

    An Horry County firefighter living in Conway was arrested Wednesday and charged with sexual battery with a student, according to jail records and other sources. Matthew James Oswald, 31, from Conway, was arrested by Horry County police at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday and charged with sexual battery with a student. As of Thursday morning, he remained incarcerated at J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
