LAKE CITY, SC (WMBF) – The 18-year-old female wanted in connection to the shooting of a man that occurred on Davis Street in Lake City in July turned herself in at the LCPD Tuesday morning, according to Lake City Police Chief Joseph Cooper.
Chief Cooper says Khadijah Jalika Bryant, aka K.D., of Thomas Street in Lake City, is being charged with attempted murder. She is being held at the Florence County Detention Center.
She is the alleged suspect that the gunshot victim, who after partially recovering from injuries and was able to speak, was able to positively identify during a detailed statement taken by police.
The victim says he met with the suspect at the incident location on July 26 and while there he was shot at least two times in the upper body and torso area, according to Chief Cooper.
The victim was driven to Lake City Emergency Room by an unknown individual, they requested emergency assistance and treatment, according to Chief Cooper.
At that time, the victim was listed in critical condition and was transported to MUSC for emergency surgery.
There was a period during the course of this investigation that police were unable to get a statement from the victim because of his critical state and ongoing surgeries, Cooper states.
