Reporter Alison Parker, 24, and photographer Adam Ward, 27, were reportedly gunned down by former colleague Vester Flanagan during a live shot shortly after 6:45 a.m.

Police say Flanagan shot himself after officers confronted him on I-66 in Faquier County, VA, which is about 175 miles northeast of the site of the shootings.

Officials originally reported that Flanagan was dead following the self-inflicted gunshot, but later retracted that statement and said he was still alive. He was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
