HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Longtime Horry County Councilman, Marion Foxworth, was appointed Register of Deeds for Horry County during Tuesday night's county council meeting.
Due to his appointment, Foxworth will no longer be able to act as a county councilman.
A special election will have to be held to fill the seat, which represents District 3.
"After nearly 14 years on council, tonight was rather bitter sweet," Foxworth said. "It's sweet in that I've been offered a new opportunity and a new challenge and I look forward to doing that...to represent and serve the people of Horry County. But it's bitter in that I leave a job I love dearly."
