CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – A portion of Enterprise Road will close on Monday, September 14 for nine months as contractors construct the new Enterprise Road Bridge over SC-31.

The closures are part of the SC-31 Extension Project and will run from Hunter’s Horn Lane to Butler Road, according to a news release from Horry County Government.

June of 2016 is when Enterprise Road is expected to reopen to all traffic.

The release states electronic message boards have been placed around the detour to inform motorists of the closure.

The SC-31 Extension Project extends approximately 3.8 miles from the current terminus at SC-544 to SC-707.

According to the release, the project will be a multi-lane freeway facility with a grassed median.

It will include a full interchange at SC-707, a partial interchange at SC-544 and a bridge over the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway.

The $190 million dollar project is currently 40 percent complete.

Construction for the project began in March 2014 and is expected to be completed in the summer of 2017.
