DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A Lamar man was arrested Wednesday after threatening a man with a handgun during a fight on West Lynches River Rd. on Tuesday, according to Darlington County Sheriff Wayne Byrd.

Devon Sharnell McCoy, age 21, is charged with attempted murder, pointing and presenting firearms at a person and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

McCoy’s sister, Raven McCoy, was arguing with a man (victim) in the parking lot at his workplace around 7 a.m. Tuesday morning, according to police reports obtained from the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office. Upon the man’s request, Raven McCoy got back into her vehicle and left the premises.

The same vehicle returned a few minutes later and Devon McCoy got out of the vehicle and confronted the man with a handgun, hit him in the head with it and the gun discharged. The man and McCoy began fighting and more shots were fired, injuring no one. McCoy left the location thereafter.

Following DCSO investigations, warrants were obtained for both Devon and Raven McCoy.

The Darlington County Detention Center website says 18-year-old Raven McCoy was booked Thursday. Raven McCoy faces charges for filing a false police report.

A $100,000 surety bond was set for Devon McCoy’s attempted murder charge; a $15,000 surety bond was set for McCoy’s charge of pointing and presenting firearms at a person, as well as $15,000 surety bond for possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
