MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A karaoke contest being held at locations across Myrtle Beach over the next month will give contestants the chance to shine while raising money for the American Center Society.

The Vocalist Challenge begins on August 15 with the first qualifying round being held at Lincoln Park Bar and Grill in Surfside. The contest gives aspiring singers over 16 the chance to win a “full music career development package” from ShipShore Productions, according to a news release from the non-profit branch of the company. The package includes a three-song demo produced by Jason Frahm of Antidote Records, a RobStep M1 Personal Transport, and a VIP booth for four at Legends in Concert Theatre in Myrtle Beach.

Each contestant will be featured on TheVocalistChallenge.com website, where anyone can vote by donating to offset the production costs of the American Cancer Society Volunteer Awards Show, being held at Legends in Concert Theatre on September 27, the release states. The champion of The Vocalist Challenge will also win a starring role on stage during this show.

When the unimaginable happens, one South Carolina school is leading the way to help victims of mass violence. We’re not just talking about active shooter situations like the one in Las Vegas last year that left 58 people dead and hundreds more hurt. Its work will also focus on incidents like the truck attack in New York City that killed eight and injured a dozen others.
